Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and accent work — handled by experienced painters who treat your home like their own.

Interior painting is the right call when walls look dingy, trim is scuffed, or you're prepping a home to sell in Jacksonville, Macclenny, St. Augustine, or anywhere in Northeast Florida. The headline: most of the value is in the prep — patching, sanding, and priming — not just the coats of paint on top.

Room-by-Room Scope

Every room in a house takes paint a little differently, and pricing an interior job room-by-room helps homeowners understand where the money actually goes.

Bedrooms

The most straightforward rooms to paint. Standard scope is walls plus trim, sometimes a ceiling refresh if it's yellowed or has ceiling texture repairs. We move and cover furniture rather than empty the room completely in most cases.

Living & Great Rooms

Higher ceilings, more wall area, and often more furniture and electronics to protect. Two-story great rooms need staging or extension ladders, which factors into the quote. Accent walls are common here.

Kitchens

Grease film on walls near the stove needs a degreasing wipe-down before paint will bond properly. We also mask cabinets, backsplash, and appliances closely since kitchen walls tend to have more trim lines and corners.

Bathrooms

High-humidity rooms need a mold-and-mildew-resistant paint, usually a satin or semi-gloss, and good ventilation during application and cure. We spot-treat any existing mildew before priming.

Hallways & Stairwells

Narrow hallways and stairwells take longer per square foot because of cutting-in around doorways, and stairwells often require scaffolding or plank-and-ladder setups for two-story ceiling heights.

Garages

Often skipped, but garage walls and ceilings benefit from a durable paint since they take more abuse from bikes, tools, and humidity swings. Drywall is frequently unfinished (no texture) here, which changes the prep approach.

Surfaces: Walls, Ceilings, Trim, and Doors

Walls

Walls get patched, sanded smooth, spot-primed, and rolled with two coats in most cases. We match existing orange-peel or knockdown texture on patches so repairs don't show under raking light.

Ceilings

Ceilings are usually flat or matte white to hide imperfections and avoid glare. Water stains get a stain-blocking primer first — regular paint alone won't stop a stain from bleeding back through.

Trim & Baseboards

Baseboards and crown molding take a durable semi-gloss or satin enamel that can handle vacuum bumps and cleaning. We caulk gaps between trim and wall before painting for a finished, seamless look.

Doors

Doors are sprayed or brushed with a hard enamel finish. Spraying gives the smoothest factory-like result but requires removing doors and setting up a spray area, which we quote separately from brush-and-roll trim work.

Drywall Repair & Prep

Paint only looks as good as what's underneath it. Before any primer goes on, we address the common issues that show up in Northeast Florida homes, many of which are 15-30 years old with settling and humidity-related wear.

  • Nail pops — re-set or replace the fastener, then patch and sand flush
  • Hairline cracks at corners and over doorways — filled with flexible patching compound, not just spackle, so they don't reopen
  • Texture matching — orange peel, knockdown, or smooth drywall repairs blended to match surrounding wall texture
  • Wallpaper removal — steamed or scored and stripped, with wall skim-coating if adhesive residue or paper backing damaged the drywall face
  • Water stains — sealed with a stain-blocking primer (shellac-based or oil-based) before topcoat, especially near AC vents, windows, and old roof leak areas

Choosing the Right Sheen

Sheen affects both looks and durability, and Florida's humidity makes this more than a cosmetic choice.

  • Flat/matte — ceilings and low-traffic formal spaces; hides imperfections but doesn't wipe clean easily
  • Eggshell — most bedrooms and living areas; a soft low-sheen look that's easy to touch up
  • Satin — hallways, kids' rooms, and family rooms that need more scrubbability
  • Semi-gloss — trim, doors, bathrooms, and kitchens where moisture and cleaning are a factor
  • Gloss — rarely used on walls, but sometimes chosen for cabinetry or statement doors for a high-shine look

Working in an Occupied Home

Most of our interior projects happen while families are living in the house, so the daily routine matters as much as the paint itself.

  • We set up each morning and break down each evening so rooms are usable overnight when needed
  • Furniture is moved to the center of the room and covered, or moved out of the work zone entirely for larger pieces
  • Dust from sanding is contained with drop cloths and, where needed, plastic sheeting and a shop vac with a HEPA filter
  • Low-VOC and zero-VOC paint options are available for nurseries, home offices, and anyone sensitive to fumes
  • We work room-at-a-time so the rest of the house stays livable and you're never without a usable kitchen or bathroom
  • Pets and kids are kept in mind — we close doors/gates as requested and keep chemicals and tools out of reach between work sessions

What Affects Price and Timeline

  • Square footage & ceiling height: More wall area and vaulted or two-story ceilings mean more labor and often scaffolding or lift equipment.
  • Prep and repair needed: Nail pops, cracks, water stains, and texture matching add time before any paint is applied.
  • Number of colors and sheens: Multiple wall colors, accent walls, and separate trim/door sheens all add cutting-in time.
  • Trim, doors, and ceilings included: Painting baseboards, doors, and ceilings alongside walls increases scope beyond a walls-only quote.
  • Furniture and occupancy: Fully furnished, lived-in homes take longer to protect and work around than vacant or new-construction spaces.
  • Paint quality and VOC requirements: Premium and low-VOC lines from Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore cost more per gallon but cover better and last longer.
  • Wallpaper removal: Removing old wallpaper and repairing the wall underneath is billed separately from standard prep.
